Remote Pilot Certificate SUAS (RPCS)

Training provider: Rheinmetall Unmanned Systems Training Academy (RUSTA)

Purpose:To provide SUAS operators with a training qualification to obtain Permission For Aerial Work (PFAW) from the CAA. RUSTA’s RPCS course is made up of three main components; Theory Course and Exam, Ops Manual Evaluation and Practical Assessment. On successful completion pilots can operate safely, in strict accordance with CAA regulations, and can obtain PFAW to fly legally in the UK. Duration:Phase One, consisting of the Theory Course and Exam: 2.5 daysPhase Two, consisting of the Ops Manual Evaluation and Practical Assessment are subject to individual student evaluation and good weather conditions.

Remote Pilot Qualification –Small <20kg

 

Training Provider:  Resource Group - NQE Number 1002 

 

Why take this course?

 

The RPQ-s course teaches students the necessary skills and competencies to operate any RPAS platform of 20kg and below, putting safety as the paramount objective. The course comprises a number of web based training modules, pre-course reading, 2 days ground school and flight assessment. Upon successful completion, Resource Group will assist and support the student with a recommendation to the CAA they receive Permissions for Aerial Work.

Introductory Flight Training

The Introductory Flight Training course is a one day course specifically aimed at providing students with the necessary core skills to operate safely. Run by our highly experienced and qualified pilots, it covers the basic yet essential knowledge of any drone system. 

 

Each element of the one day course has been carefully designed to ensure that knowledge is built upon and developed, providing the student with the confidence to operate their platform in a safe and legal manner.

Aerial Imagery

Our two day hands on Aerial Imagery course teaches the skills required to produce and deliver photography and video. Learn how to deliver maximum impact of the highest quality and provide clients with the results they need, generating repeat business.

Autonomous Systems and Operations

Training Provider: Cranfield University 

Duration: 2 Days

The course looks at the technological and regulatory challenges of operating unmanned systems in non-segregated airspace. Starts by covering airspace classifications; rules of the air; ICAO, EASA, NATO and Eurocontrol initiatives in producing rules and regulations for the operation of those systems in current airspace. Then the onboard/offboard technologies required are discussed followed by two examples of UK national programmes aimed at developing unmanned system technologies, namely: ASTRAEA and FLAVIIR projects.

UAVs for Environmental Monitoring

Training Provider: Cranfield University 

Duration: 1 Week

Small-scale Vertical Take Off (VTO) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are emerging as a key engineering tool for future environmental survey tasks. UAV aerial imagery offers both timely (on-demand) and more detailed (higher resolution) information than comparable satellite imagery. This course will introduce the main principles behind UAVs flight control, data capture, image processing and environmental interpretation/applications.

Guidance and Navigation for Autonomous Systems

In modern autonomous systems, it is essential to design an appropriate guidance and navigation system. Autonomous Vehicle Dynamics and Control MSc/PgDip/PgCert

Training Provider: Cranfield University 

Duration : One year full-time, two years part-time

The worldwide market for unmanned and autonomous vehicles is expanding rapidly. Autonomous airborne vehicles have numerous existing and potential applications including search and surveillance, mapping crop-spraying, environmental and weather monitoring. Autonomous ground vehicles have very diverse applications such as factory automation and mine clearance.
